I'm also surprised at how little I've had to do! I mean, you just plant the seeds and *BAM!* you have a garden!
I did do quite a bit in the beginning, I guess. Before I even planted anything. I laid down newspaper last fall where I wanted my garden to be and when spring came I tilled and dug out all of the sod. That was a bit of work, but I actually enjoyed it. :)
Whoever said playing in the dirt is therapeutic may have been on to something. :)
So here's the "before":
And the "after":
Next year I'll space things apart a bit more and I think we're going to double the size of garden. I kept it so small this year because, to be honest, I was a bit intimidated by the whole gardening thing and we're having a baby, so I didn't want to overwhelm myself.
I've only really weeded once like, 3 weeks ago. I'm pretty happy about that as you can imagine. :)
And here's a look at our compost bin. I just love being able to put our food waste in there instead of in the garbage!!
The whole thing is very gratifying!!
And just because, here's a pic of Gilly. :)
