I was talking to someone recently and they made a comment that makes me wonder if what people read is the same as what I'm trying to say.
My question then is, does it matter if what I'm trying to say is interpreted wrong?
Well, does it? Punk? teehee.
Have I been too negative on my blog????
See, that's where it gets tough for me.
I could post only happy go lucky, gives you the warm fuzzies posts. Which is fine and a lot of blogs do that.
But that just isn't me.
That just isn't life.
Not that life isn't wonderful and to be honest, I have absolutely, positively NO COMPLAINTS. At all.
I have a beautiful daughter, wonderful husband and a Saviour who loves me unconditionally. That is all I need. :)
But there are days when my house is messy, I'm lacking in patience or am feeling inadequate. Should I not post about those days? I don't know. Maybe not.
Maybe those things are better left unsaid.
What do you think? If you're a blogger, do you prefer to leave out the negative stuff? Why or why not?
If you're not a blogger, would you rather see less about the bad days and more about the good days?
I think you have a good balance. You have a fun sense of humor and are realistic - I like to read your blog and get a lot of the Saturday Skinny. Just think if you didn't do all the work of picking the best of the week I'd have to go and read the whole week of those blogs ~ so really your saving me quite a bit of time. :) Do what God guides you in - and either way keep on keeping in real!

Thanks for responding, Melissa. :) Glad I'm saving you some time!! HAHA! I appreciate your encouraging words. I probably over think things a little.. ok - A LOT. But I just worry that people might be misreading me. The truth is this blog is such a TINY portion of my life. And like my hubby said, the people that really know me know the difference between just being "real" or negative. :) Thanks again! Good to hear from you!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I like to read the good, the bad and the ugly, because life is all those things. As for bloggers who have seemingly perfect lives, well I don't read them. For my blog, I like to be real, I want to post what's going on whether it's good or bad, I just don't want to be a depressing place no one wants to read. I have a facebook friend who only posts negative updates and that has been a lesson to me--it's fine to be negative but I'd rather that not be all the time.
ReplyDeleteHi, Catie! I blog for myself first, and then other women. I don't mean to sound selfish, but blogging is my therapy. I really think God talks to me through my writing--some people keep prayers journals, and I blog. If I'm struggling, I always feel better after I write. To write only the good wouldn't do me any good!
ReplyDeleteMy mother-in-law told me she doesn't like to read my blogs that don't highlight the sweet things my kids do. However, more women have told me that they feel better after reading the real things that I write. It's nice to know that we're not the only ones who struggle with disciplining our kids, controlling our tempers, etc. And of course, I have plenty of blogs that show all of the sweet parts of life, too. If a person only writes the negative, then she isn't seeing all the blessings God has given her!
This blog is your blog. You can't please everyone. Just make sure what you write is pleasing God! :)
